Po Ku Kahi

Sunday
Early afternoon
Mostly clear sky
Clouds gradually moved in
Warm, with little wind

 Inside the kitchen

We dig into the things we need to do:
Start with cleaning the frig
 Make a list
Measure the windows to consider covering them against the wind.
Pete cleans out the grease trap.
I begin working on putting grommets into our old rug to be a curtain.
Sky view from under the pavilion roof
While Pete is at the hardware store, I realize we WILL NOT be able to hang out in the kitchen (setting up the computer, enjoying a little extra space, having jolly winter parties:).There's a lingering smell that will not go away. I use my mask to go in and out. Even AFTER the grease trap is cleaned, the smell lingers. We've left open bowls of baking soda in the kitchen to 'test' the possibility that the smell can be absorbed.

Ku Moons are good times for taking action. We are doing what we can do, and will check the kitchen in a couple days to see if there is improvement.

After four Ku Moons, come the Po 'Ole, four days/nights of reassessing/seeing where we are. ( Po 'ole begin on Thursday and last through Sunday, October 29th.)

If we need to we will make do:
. park the vardo as close to the kitchen as possible,
. get hot water from that kitchen,
. but set up cooking space under the pavilion roof using tarps to block off the wind and rain.

I gleaned the following from this week's astrology:

"...The Venus-Pluto square can dredge up the attitude that we’re about to lose out on a great deal. If we just make the effort and pull out all stops, we could make this happen! On the way to exact aspect with Pluto, Venus and Mercury aspect Neptune. Realism is not a feature of Neptune tinged thinking and desire.
However, there’s a tweak for that. Take it all down a notch. Remove the desperation. Balance desire and fear of loss of opportunity with waiting for reciprocation before you act. If the idea is divinely inspired, there’s no rush. What’s meant for you will show up in its own time. Take some Scorpio hang back and chill pills."..." - Satori
We need to find a middle ground or a hybrid action between the Scorpio hang back and chill pills (me) and the Aries North Node (Pete's) that wants to 'make this happen.' When I remember the Prairie Front is meant as a transitional stop, my grip loosens and my breath comes easier. When Pete remembers this is a transitional stop he recognizes it's a familiar place with 'no ownership in it.' We're using our practice of kilo, observing and adapting, to be folks living without owning or expecting... shelter and hot water is more than a lot of folks experience.

Is this middle earth/middle ground, Bilbo Baggins?

The dialogue changes, the message remains consistent.

Po Hoaka

Cold and damp.
Around 1:30 PM
Wind blowing in from the south.
One lone hawk circled over the north field.
We reconsider parking spot.
Park closer!

Inside the kitchen
We get a feel,
Feel the cold
Clean a little
Get a scope of
what and how.

I said a little prayer
Sprinkle salt.
Password: "Pony up."

First Frost

Magic was alive this morning when I stepped out the door just after 8 am. Fog was settling into a crisp morning with a sky clear with stars...
